A Survey
The fact that 42% of people going to "a chiropractor note their care as 'excellent' while only 27% gave high marks to their medical provider" (New England Journal of Medicine) is not that great a statistic. Most people go to a medical provider out of necessity. Going to a chiropractor is a choice. I would expect that the satisfaction would be much higher than 42%. What would the reason(s) for that relatively low percentage be?

I think one reason would be that a lot of chiropractors do not educate their patients as to why it is important to get checked on a regular basis. So the patients see the chiropractor as a "nag" or someone who is trying to see them more often than is necessary. So even though they may feel better after the adjustment and are happy with their visit, they don't like the fact that their chiropractor keeps telling them to get checked more often.
ReplyDeleteAs we work harder as a profession to more like our medical "brothers" we get closer and closer to inheriting their satisfaction rateings also. While people feel that doctors are important, they do not like having to go to them.
