"We have met the enemy and he is us."

I think that only a few chiropractors truly understand ADIO thinking versus outside-in thinking. I recently saw the following statement in an ad for a nutritional supplement. They called it, "The Greatest Natural Health Discovery Since Penicillin." If you think that Penicillin has anything to do with natural health, you probably don't even understand what the acronym "ADIO" stands for! Our profession as a whole has so obliterated the lines of demarcation that we do not even know what is therapeutic and what is non-therapeutic, what meets the medical objective and what is designed to meet a chiropractic objective. That's why when a chiropractic school wants to call their degree "chiropractic medicine" or a state wants to legalize chiropractors prescribing drugs, the majority of the profession does not rise up in righteous indignation. There are no lines anymore. It's not that we have changed the definition of chiropractic. It's that we no longer want chiropractic to be defined.

The reminder to all of us that you stated in the current issue of "the Practice Builder" regarding repetition has to be understood. We cannot get tired of repeating our story. I liked the principle "when the rate of forgetting exceeds the rate of learning you have lost them" (temporarily, I hope).Keep on keeping on, Dennis
ReplyDeleteI can say that I still strugle with the definitions. Many of us got fooled I beleive by the title dr. And it is so easy to try to help here and now.
ReplyDeleteWe are doctors of life impulse, which is generated in the nervous systm of a living entity.
In human beings this life line courses through the spine.
Neural subluxations cause improper nerve function, which causes an attempt by the body of superaction... which contracts the muscles, which pool the structural spine out of alignment. The stractural vertebral subluxation becomes chrinical if not corrected as soon.
Thus the importance of regullar spinal cheackups.
Though - I have only understood this latelly, and I still don't know how to say it to people (pts).
Dr-Ronen, if you don't already have it, pick up a copy of Joe's "Enhancing Your Life Experience." Chapter 3 in particular does an excellent job of explaining ADIO vs OIBU. There are also a number of archived Pivot articles that address ADIO worldview. Joe's done a great job in breaking this down so we can better explain this to people.
ReplyDeleteThe problem that I see is that want to be a part of the falling system. I have nothing against systems, if they work, but the sickness treatment system is not working, except of producing more new forms of sickness.
ReplyDeleteI say we should try to define a new system, the internal potential release system, yet I have no clue how to market it, yet.
Love to hear input on the idea,
Ronen Mendi, Israel
