Educating Practice Members

Many people will stop their thought processes rather than go on because going on necessitates shifting from rational thought to faith or from empiricism to reason and they are not accustomed to, comfortable with, or desire to think outside their comfort zone. As a result they never give a concept or a subject "further thought". Our job as chiropractic educators is to evoke further thought. The less discomfort we can cause in doing that the more successful we will be.

  1. ... and the less discomfort for every OSC out there to cause, is to tell the story over and over and over and over and over again.
As we have the COURAGE to tell the TRUTH with INTEGRITY, we will take whatever we get and it will be FREEDOM and PEACE within ourselves.

  2. Joe,
On Apr. 14 your post seems to suggest that the only way people learn is through "failure"( in my opinion a painful or atleast uncomfortable experience). How does that blend with your thoughts in this post?

  3. Good observation jdchirodad3! I was contrasting educated and innate learning on April 14. We do not ALWAYS learn educatedly by trial and error. In fact its not the best way unless you are into pain! We do remember the hot stove but you obviously did not hold their hands against the stove to teach them. (They probably would not have been able to become chiropractors if you did. By the way, that is a tremendous legacy you have left them and the world)
We never learn innately by trial and error. In fact, the point I was making was that the ii of the body doesn't have to learn anything. If it did it would be less than 100%.
It's better to learn educatedly without pain, although sometimes that is not possible. I know people who have sat through your lay lecture and remarked that it was not only not painful but was in fact enjoyable as well as thought provoking. That should be our educational goal.

  4. I believe when we "preach chiropractic" to anyone we should be as winsome as possible and to speak the truth in as pleasant and entertaining way as can be done. But I also believe that the best way the person can learn that truth and internalize it; then that happens with some advesity or some test that life will present so that the chiropractic truth becomes real for them.
