The 100th Monkey Effect
Too often we clothe theories, beliefs and dogmas in scientific or philosophical trappings which gives them credibility and unfortunately, makes people think they are fact. We could call it the "100th monkey" effect. A purely seculative, wishful thinking theory, by constant repitition became accepted by many as fact. Some quantum physics theories and chiropractic technique theories fall into this category.

ReplyDeleteAdd to that, just because Reggie said it, it must be true?!?! ;)
ticdoc1...of course you are only kidding. No one would ever question Reggie! But in all seriousness you raise an excellent question. When we stick to our chiropractic philosophy and our logic, deduction and premises are correct we can be sure of our statements. When we wander into other areas outside of chiropractic philosophy all of us, even Reggie can be wrong. I'm not sure if he ever told the 100th monkey story. Anybody know? But thanks for reminding me of that important principle. PS. I meant speculative not seculative. Obviously, I am doing my own posting...where's my proofreader?!
ReplyDeleteThe FSCO used to put on a seminar called the Triune (ahhh...the good old days). For some reason I'm thinking that Reg might have told that story at one of the Triunes. I'll have to check a few cassettes to confirm...oops...anyone have a cassette player I can borrow??? ;-)
